Postcard from dublin (2000-Oct-Reveal)
Everyone has enjoyed spending a couple of months over here, working on the record, getting out in Dublin, and seeing friends.
We had a string session earlier this week at Wind Mill Lane Studios, which went great, and just across the river, U2 were doing some filming for their upcoming record. As usual Dublin is a fun, lively place, and there is a lot going on now with the Theatre Festival underway. Some of us saw a super new play, A DUBLIN CAROL, by Connor McPherson. Tonight, Radiohead rolls into town for three nights in a circus tent; we are all looking forward to seeing them at the end of their European tour.
The recording is going well, and everyone is very pleased with the songs as they take shape. We have also been interested to follow the news from home about the R.E.M. fans and their successful campaign to save the MURMUR trestle in Athens. Pretty amazing and certainly appreciated by all concerned (now if the local government will just pass a meaningful land use plan ...).
The new record should be finished by the end of the year and released next April or May. Meanwhile, S. America--in the summer--in January
All Best,
Bertis
