THE best weekend!! ...
I couldn't sleep on Friday night with excitment. I woke up early on Saturday morning not really sure what time to get the bus into Dublin (it leaves every hour). Went through my bag, ipod - check, tickets - check, snacks - check, mobile - check....I was on my way. Listening to my ipod on the bus I was dying to just let out a scream I was that excited. I must have checked my bag for the tickets about a million times! Eventually I got off at O'Connell street dying to use the ladies, so I went into the nearest pub. I thought I might as well take a drink when I was there....and just as I started to sip my pint of Bulmers R.E.M. came on the radio, well that just got me going again, so I downed the pint and headed straight for The Olympia. There wasn't too many people queuing so I new I'd get a great view, and so I did. Words can't describe how great it was. The new material sounds great, I thought I'd need to hear it a few times to remember it but that night the new songs were still playing in my head. I couldn't wait to go back the next night to hear them again! They also played some old stuff in between 'Second Guessing' sounded sooo good. The guys seemed in such top form and it was refreshing to see them in their 'rehearsal' mode. They seemed relaxed and confident in their new material. The Olympia was the perfect choice to do this, they were practially having a conversation with the crowd after each song, it was fab! I can't make it tonight (Tuesday) but I'll be back in Dublin for the last two shows. It was well worth all the aches and pains queuing all day. I also met some myspace friends which was great, it really helped the day go in quickly with everyone telling their own R.E.M. stories.
I Better get an early one tonight!! :)
