This Is Not A Show - Saturday night in Dublin - new videos of Saturday night

Only yesterday and it seems ages ago already - to everyone going to any of the other nights - you lucky, lucky people.

By about 6pm the queue outside the Olympia was stretching down to the stage door. We joined the queue and waited...by about 7pm the doors were opened and we headed for the front, or as close as we could get. The first 80 people got wristbands for the very front section. We were about 82nd and 83rd and were told to stand behind the barrier, but our powers of subtle creeping in front of the barrier worked a treat and by the time R.E.M. came on stage we'd made our way to the centre.

Michael gave an introduction the the evening which he'll repeat every night and then it was straight into the first new song of the night:

Second Guessing was next, I think followed by another new song:

Letter Never Sent and Little America were played around now - I never thought I'd hear 3 songs off Reckoning. I never, ever thought I'd hear a song off Chronic Town, but they did one

Another new one - I think Michael said this was Peter's favourite

Maps and Legends was played around now and the band were on fine form. Another new one:

and then my favourite new one of the night called Horse to Water. Great to hear the guitars turned up - think Peter enjoyed it too-

The encore songs played were These Days, New Test Leper, Electrolite and I'm Gonna DJ, but I was too busy jumping around to video them. Sorry some of the videos are the wrong way round - too much Guinness during the afternoon...

I wasn't sure I'd ever see R.E.M. doing the whole unembellished guitars, bass and drums thing again, but I'm so glad they are - bring on the studio versions...because the live versions were great

One song and I am already moved. Instant R.E.M. addiction just like the time I was 13 way back in summer 1985 in the backseat of my parent's car coming back to Michigan from Cedar Point the "Amazement" Park listening to them on Rockline and they played songs that hooked me forever.
